Quartier Les Papeteries: A hoarding bridging the past and future

In Nanterre, BNP Paribas Immobilier and WO2 have decided to enhance the Quartier Les Papeteries development project while recalling the history of this former industrial site. They enlisted Celize’s expertise to create the hoarding for this construction site and thus better prepare the local residents for the upcoming changes.

A smooth transition

In keeping with the idea of looking back in time, the exhibition panels have been designed. They recount the history of the paper mill company that once animated the district and even gave it its name. All the major milestones of the activity are detailed. BNP Paribas, WO2, the Nanterre Town Hall, the Hauts-de-Seine Department, and Paris La Défense, partners in the new development, wanted to create a bridge between the past and the near future, with neither overshadowing the other. The 21 panels are divided into 3 sections on each side of the Anatole France bridge, with the final panel announcing at the end of 2022 the emergence of the new district. Colorful and educational, the display is primarily presented in the form of captioned illustrations.

A support choice perfectly aligned with the project

Through its low-carbon offices, solid wood constructions, green wooded spaces, and pedestrian connections, the Arboretum campus reflects a genuine environmental awareness. Thus, the construction site’s communication should also align with this ethos. The wooden display support proposed by Celize perfectly addresses this concern. The hoarding consists of autoclaved wood slats on which the exhibition panels are mounted. At pedestrian height, along a heavily frequented path, these panels spark curiosity due to their composition and instinctively encourage reading. The lower wooden part, while introducing a touch of softness, reflects an eco-friendly image and also hints at the low environmental impact of the upcoming developments.

A custom hoarding tailored to the location

Regardless of the constraints encountered, Celize’s experience and team expertise allow for the design of appropriate external communication for each situation. For the future Quartier des Papeteries, a specific reflection was undertaken to adapt the 1.92-meter-high hoarding to the shape and elevation of the bridge. Following a precise site survey and technical specifications, Celize designs the structure of the furniture and its fixation method. Concurrently, aesthetic harmony between the hoarding and the exhibition content guided the overall design. Every element is crucial, from the quality of the panel prints to the installation and safety of the setup.
