Highlighting the large-scale wooden floaters
Former capital of timber floating, the medieval city of Clamecy decides to honor its history by dressing the scaffolding of the Church of Notre-Dame de Bethléem with a large-format banner created by Celize.
Scaffolding dressing of the church of Notre-Dame de Bethléem
Located by the Yonne River, the Church of Notre-Dame de Bethléem is undergoing renovation. The church will become a space for multicultural and artistic expression. As part of this restoration and enhancement project, the City of Clamecy aims to showcase the city’s craftsmanship and history by dressing the facade. Celize has been entrusted with the design and creation of a large-format covering for the scaffolding.
Clamecy wants to celebrate the city’s historical activity: timber floating.
Clamecy, capital of timber floating
Surrounded by water, the city of Clamecy owes much to the river. Its past as the capital of timber floating has left many traces. The project aims to highlight the timber floaters who, between the 16th and 19th centuries, transported wood to Paris. This distant era was synonymous with prosperity for the city.
Highlighting the City’s History: A Display Between Tradition and Modernity
To successfully carry out this urban communication operation, Celize handled the entire project: from graphic design to production and installation. For the graphic design of the timber train and floaters, Celize’s creative team designed a two-tone illustrated representation that fits within a contemporary aesthetic movement with clean lines and textures, blending tradition and modernity. The large-format illustration extends along the scaffolding on a printed banner 29 meters long and 5 meters high.
