FEAST: contemporary art takes center stage at table square construction site in La Défense
During the construction of Table Square, a new venue dedicated to gastronomy set to open in the last quarter of 2019 on the Esplanade of Paris La Défense, the real estate developer Urban Renaissance invites the association La Source to present an exhibition on its hoardings from March 26 to June 17, 2019. Celize is working closely with the artistic agency Artegalore to organize this original and charitable exhibition.
Artistic and charitable exhibition
Founded in 1991 at the initiative of painter Gérard Garouste, La Source is a non-profit association with a social and educational mission through artistic expression, aimed at children and young people in difficulty as well as their families.
For this open-air exhibition titled Feast, 32 of the most prominent visual artists from the French art scene have been invited to interpret the theme of gastronomy and food in their own way. “All the works were created specifically (except for one, editor’s note) for the project,” explains Guillaume Garouste, the exhibition curator at Artegalore.
All the works were produced in a unique format (130 x 89 cm) and then reproduced in large format for the exhibition. This exhibition is complemented by about ten pieces created by children from La Source, under the guidance of artists, on the same theme and format.
Urban Renaissance sponsors the entire Feast project, which receives support from Paris La Défense, a local public establishment in charge of planning and managing the territory.
The original works by the artists will later be auctioned off to benefit the association La Source by the auction house Piasa.
A taste before the arrival of the table square food court
Table Square will host star chefs from the world of gastronomy and bistronomy. Among them, Anne-Sophie Pic with Daily Pic, her gourmet canteen; Akrame Benallal and his Table, a contemporary brasserie… All set to properly welcome employees, students, residents, and the million visitors to Paris La Défense. The project will be up and running by the end of November 2019.
In the meantime, enjoy the beautiful days to feast your eyes on the artworks displayed since March 26, 2019, in the presence of the artists.
With great passion and precision, the Celize team has produced large-format reproductions of the artworks and installed them on the construction site hoardings.
