Design of a covered wooden passageway for the Vélizy 2 shopping center

The Reference Center of Western Paris and Pioneer of Shopping Centers in France , Vélizy 2 is expanding and will host an extension of nearly 20,000 m² and a new cinema by 2019. As part of this construction, the shopping center commissioned Celize to design a temporary covered wooden passageway to secure customer access from the parking lot and communicate about this architectural transformation of the center.

Ensuring a pleasant customer experience

Vélizy 2 ranks among the top 10 shopping centers in France, with 14.7 million visitors in 2017. To strengthen its position, the architectural concept of the new Vélizy is focused on customer well-being and leisure.

The new Vélizy 2 will prioritize soft connections and place pedestrians at the heart of its project. The center plans to create a “green corridor,” a vegetated pedestrian and cycling path connecting the tramway access to the new entrance of the center.

In this effort to offer a pleasant customer experience, the center wanted to establish an elegant and secure covered passageway that integrates seamlessly into the space. The center is committed to providing high-quality customer reception throughout the construction period, which will last until 2019.

Maintaining a safe and welcoming environment during construction

This pathway serves as a communication channel for the construction site at the shopping center. It showcases the upcoming new architecture of the mall and announces the creation of a new cinema complex to visitors.

To achieve this, Celize uses wood as a communication medium, aligning with the overall design that emphasizes a wooden aesthetic.

Celize produces high-definition prints of the future center’s visuals directly on the wooden construction panels that make up the covered walkway. This passage helps maintain the mall’s appeal and aims to offer a positive experience to customers during the construction phase.

Communicating the future of the center

This pathway serves as a communication medium for the construction site for the shopping center. It presents the future new architecture of the shopping center and informs visitors about the creation of a new cinema complex.

To achieve this, Celize uses wood as a communication support to be consistent with the overall all-wood design.

This passageway helps maintain the center’s attractiveness and aims to provide customers with a positive experience during the construction phase.

The Icade group aims to build places where it is good to live, reside, and work. As such, it has set a strategic priority to limit the carbon footprint of its projects.

An example in the heart of the 7th arrondissement of Lyon with two real estate programs prioritizing greenery and meeting high bioclimatic and environmental standards. Aware of the need to reflect this approach, the Celize teams have worked to propose a “natural” separation to facilitate the marketing of the two complexes.
