A monumental banner dresses the Bourse de Commerce construction site in the heart of Paris
On the gable of the “base vie” of the Bourse de Commerce restoration and transformation construction site, a sketch by Tadao Ando is now prominently displayed! The Pinault Collection – Paris called upon the Japanese architect for the design of its future museum, dedicated to contemporary art.
A monumental sign in the city
As part of this ambitious transformation campaign, a set of construction modules, raised over six levels and called “base vie,” is installed on the forecourt of the Bourse de Commerce facing Rue du Louvre, in the heart of Paris. Celize was tasked with embellishing this temporary facade, the “face of the construction site,” with this monumental display.
For this high-visibility space, the Pinault Collection – Paris chose to share with passersby and residents the monumental reproduction of a magnificent preparatory drawing. It encapsulates the architect’s vision for the redevelopment of this former Grain Hall, a remarkable building from the 17th and 19th centuries, some parts of which are listed as historical monuments.
An elegant dressing of the facade
On this advertising banner for scaffolding, Tadao Ando’s sketch, with its sobriety and monochrome, was reproduced on a support deployed over 17 meters in height. It illustrates the key element imagined by the architect for the building: a concrete cylinder embracing the historic rotunda of the Bourse de Commerce.
The public will be able to discover this new cultural venue dedicated to contemporary art, its program of exhibitions, shows, and events, during the course of 2019.
